Importance of Pre-K
You child will begin their education foundation when they attend Pre-K. It allows them to become familiar with the fundamentals of school and concepts of learning. Having your child experience a preschool environment can give them insight into what learning in a more structured environment is all about. They will also learn to be independent and more confident as well as make new friends. They will have the opportunity to become self-reliant learners in a diverse environment where they can explore and play.

Our Vision / Mission / Philosophy
Our Pre K program embraces the philosophy that children learn best through play, hands-on experiences and interactions with people, materials, events, and ideas. Children will be provided opportunities to create, experiment and problem-solve.
Who We Serve
Any student that resides within the NBISD boundaries and who will be 4 years old on or before September 1st. Students may qualify to attend for free under state and federal Pre-K eligibility and/or Head Start eligibility requirements or pay tuition.
History
In 2017, Lone Star Elementary was converted into the district pre-K center serving all of NBISD early learners. In partnership with HeadStart and the state Pre-K eligibilities, we have served around 200-375 Pre-K aged children each school year since opening. Our facility is structured to meet the developmental needs of Pre-K aged students.
Highly Qualified Staff
All of our staff are classified as highly qualified by the Texas Education Agency. Our staff has the qualifications needed to effectively support the developmental growth and achievement of our youngest learners. Our teachers and some staff have additional qualifications that are early-childhood specific such as a Child Development Association (CDA) credential.
